Frequently Asked Questions
What happens in an initial consultation?
It’s an informal chat where we can get to know more about you and vice versa. It’s a chance for you to ask all of your burning questions and for us to find out how we can make a difference to your life. We don’t bite and there is no such thing as a stupid question, so please do ask!
Which services do I need?
That depends on both you and your business. We’d recommend having a look at our Services Page where we run through the basics of the services we provide. No two businesses are the same so what one business might need, yours might not and vice versa.
How do I pay for services?
We bill for most of our services monthly, which allows the fees to be spread out over the year. We take monthly payments by Direct Debit but we also accept bank transfers and card payments.
When is the right time to find an accountant?
The sooner the better! Making contact with an accountant in the early stages of your business can often save you some serious hassle later down the line. We will rarely have an initial consultation with a potential client where they don’t reply at some point “oh, I didn’t realise that”. Make a note of all of your questions and ask them in your consultation – it’s time well spent.
What is a UTR and where do I find it?
UTR stands for Unique Taxpayer Reference and the clue’s in the name, it’s unique to that taxpayer, whether it’s an individual, a partnership or a limited company. The UTR is 10 digits long and it’s what’s used to identify you or your business to HMRC and links to your tax account. Your UTR can be found at the top of your tax return, in notices to file tax returns, in payment reminders, in statements of account, in the initial letter HMRC sends upon registration and in your digital tax account with HMRC (top right of the screen).
How can I change accountant?
Changing your accountant is a simple process and you needn’t feel awkward. If you’d like to join us at Wecount Ltd, we’ll contact your existing accountant, making the move to us as smooth as possible.
