What is Cloud Accounting?

Cloud accounting gives you access to your business numbers 24/7, from any location where you have an internet connection, removing the need to work from one office-based computer or laptop. You can log in via a web browser from your laptop, or use your provider’s mobile app to access your accounts from your phone or tablet.

Is my data safe?

Yes! Cloud applications use encrypted connections when communicating or transferring your data. This means information is encrypted on your device before it moves to their server and also when it comes back again. There are best practice measures that you as the user can put in place too, such as:

  • Use a strong, unique password that’s as long as you can manage
  • Set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) as an extra layer of protection
  • Make sure your computer or device has all recent software updates installed, to make your devices as secure as possible

    • Is it expensive?

    Some solutions are available free and some are paid for. Time saved by using cloud accounting tends to mean that any cost is actually a saving!

    The three providers we use at Wecount Ltd are:

    • Dext (for data capture and getting your receipts to us)
    • FreeAgent (accounting software for straight forward small businesses and most landlords)
    • Xero (accounting software for businesses who need some extra bells and whistles).
